Why is there a need for an Active Ageing Festival?
Singapore's population is ageing rapidly. In fact, according to a UN study, Singapore will have the world's 4th oldest population by 2050. Hence, it is important for individuals and government to prepare for this inevitable change in Singapore's demographics.
Through this festival, the government hopes to encourage older people to continue to lead active, useful and productive lives. This will ensure that people stay happy and healthy in their golden years, as well as continue to support Singapore's future economic growth.
