Honouring the Stars of Active Ageing
The Active Agers Awards given out by Council for third Age (C3A) – an independent body that promotes active ageing – recognises seniors with a passion for life and who are enthusiastic about being Active Ageing Ambassadors to motivate other seniors to live an active life.
For 2008, in addition to the Active Agers of the Year Award, C3A collaborated with Prudential Assurance Company Singapore (Pte) Limited and Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) to present two special awards to seniors who embrace active ageing in their own unique ways.
The Active Agers – Prudential Prime Award 2008 honours the individual who best exemplifies a positive attitude towards ageing through the passionate pursuit of sports, activities and hobbies that are generally associated with younger people, while the Active Agers – IDA Active Infocomm Champion Award 2008 is presented to an outstanding senior who embraces mobile and digital technology as an integral part of this or her daily life.
Between late July and September 2008, Council for Third Age received close to 450 nominations from the public – more than double the number received in 2007. From among them, we were proud to honour seven outstanding active agers who truly live their lives to the full in all the six dimensions of wellness – social, intellectual, physical, vocational, emotional and spiritual.
